What the Craving Scale teaches us:
– the process of relapse is gradual.
– there are multiple decision points before we relapse.
– for every point on the craving scale there are tools that we can use to get back to 0.
– at each point on the scale we are faced with a choice; I can choose to do an activity, or I can choose to let my thoughts go higher up the scale towards relapse.
– staying sober and clean involves effort, thinking, choice and determination.
– if we have cravings we are not destined to use.
– we have not failed or done something wrong when we have cravings or urges.
– cravings and urges are a normal part of recovery.
