Michelle Maillet brings over 10 years of professional experience across diverse areas of social work, including the unhoused sector, gender-based violence, supportive housing, and clinical counselling. Throughout her career, she has supported youth and adults navigating various positions along the spectrum of addictions and recovery. These experiences fuel her passion for therapeutically supporting individuals through the recovery process, as well as other human experiences such as anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, burnout, grief, and relationships.
Michelle’s therapeutic approach is warm, compassionate, collaborative, and curious—incorporating humor when appropriate. She is rooted in the belief that everyone is doing the best they can, and that our best is often influenced by thought and behavior patterns we adapt to protect ourselves from life’s challenges, disappointments, and traumas. Trusting that every person already holds the necessary resources to live their preferred life, Michelle sees her role as supporting clients in accessing these resources and reconnecting with their own innate wisdom.
Michelle’s practice is largely informed by Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS), Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness-based approaches, and Polyvagal Theory, while incorporating elements of Somatic Experiencing. Although her sessions are primarily grounded in talk therapy, she gently invites body awareness, intentional breathwork, and art into the space whenever clients feel open to experiential work. Michelle understands the complexity of recovery and prioritizes emotional and psychological safety by carefully aligning her approach with the pace that each client sets for themself.
In her spare time, Michelle enjoys spending time in nature, connecting with friends and family, being active, and learning.
